Join our team
Tight is the company we always wanted: a close-knit product team behind some of Norway’s most exciting projects, with the trust and freedom necessary to do great work. We're now hiring talented people to join our team of four in Oslo asap.
Tight was started by Gjermund and Anders in 2009 with a shared goal: make apps & websites that look great and work even better. Removing the barriers between designer and developer has been key to executing at the highest level, and has struck a chord with our clients – be it ambitious startups like UIP (Oslo City Bike), or Norway’s biggest newspapers.
As one of us, you’ll join a talented team that work on products used by hundreds of thousands every week. The distance from idea to deployed code is short, and you’ll have plenty of influence on how our projects evolve. We never see things as 100% done, and use this feeling to constantly improve and iterate on our work.
These are the people we’re looking for:
As a designer at Tight, you’ll be using your experience from UX and visual design to make elegant, simple interfaces that solve problems. Aesthetics are a big deal to you, but you have a sober view on whatever design trend is hot right now. Designing for a responsive website or native app doesn't matter – you’re well aware of the strengths and weaknesses of different platforms.
To prove all this, you have a strong body of work that demonstrates your design skills and the thought process behind it. Tools like Sketch, Illustrator and Photoshop are like an extension of your hands and mind, and since execution is everything, you’re ready to get your hands dirty with the occasional HTML & CSS.
Experience with prototyping tools and motion graphics is a plus, but not a requirement.
You enjoy programming, and you know how to build and maintain stuff on the web. Learning new things is a welcome part of the day, but nothing beats the feeling of getting in the zone – and staying there – with familiar tools. Code that’s easy to test is a thing of beauty.
Most of our projects are based on the same technologies, so you should be familiar with the following (or something similar):
- Ruby on Rails
- Git & GitHub
Experience with native app development is a huge plus, but not a requirement.
